چکیده
We have investigated the release of active sites blocked by bubbles attached on the surface of catalysts during the oxygen evolution reaction (OER) in alkaline water electrolysis, via the modulation of the wetting properties of the four different morphologies of a nickel catalyst.

Wear behavior of carbon steel electrodeposited by nanocrystalline Ni–W coating
Ni-W coatings, compared to pure nanocrystalline Ni, exhibit higher hardness and wear resistance. In some cases, these coatings are considered as environmental friendly alternatives for hard chromium coating. Till now, most of Ni-W coatings have been produced by direct current electrodeposition from alkaline baths. In this study square pulse current was used for deposition of Ni-W precipitates f...
متن کاملFacile and Scalable Synthesis of Robust Ni(OH)2 Nanoplate Arrays on NiAl Foil as Hierarchical Active Scaffold for Highly Efficient Overall Water Splitting
Developing highly efficient low-cost electrocatalysts for both hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) and oxygen evolution reaction (OER) in alkaline electrolyte is essential to advance water electrolysis technology. Herein, Ni(OH)2 nanoplates aligned on NiAl foil (Ni(OH)2/NiAl) are developed by simply dealloying NiAl foil in KOH, which exhibits high electrocatalytic activity for OER with a small ov...
متن کاملIn situ activation of a Ni catalyst with Mo ion for hydrogen evolution reaction in alkaline solution
In this study Ni catalyst have been activated during hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) by adding Mo ions into the alkaline electrolyte. After dissolving different amounts of ammonium molybdate in the 1M NaOH as electrolyte, Ni catalyst was used as cathode for HER. Afterwards a comparison between hydrogen overpotential measured in Ni catalyst with and without in situ activation has been made; th...
متن کاملEffect of Morphology of Co3O4 for Oxygen Evolution Reaction in Alkaline Water Electrolysis
In this paper, three different morphological Co3O4 electrodes for oxygen evolution reaction (OER) have been synthesized. By comparing the three morphologies of Co3O4, the electrocatalytic properties show that the urchin-like spheres of Co3O4 electrode has relative low overpotential and good electrocatalysis stability, indicating that the structure of urchin-like Co3O4 spheres exhibit an easy OE...
متن کاملMolecular Mixed-Metal Manganese Oxido Cubanes as Precursors to Heterogeneous Oxygen Evolution Catalysts.
Well-defined mixed-metal [CoMn3 O4 ] and [NiMn3 O4 ] cubane complexes were synthesized and used as precursors for heterogeneous oxygen evolution reaction (OER) electrocatalysts. The discrete clusters were dropcasted onto glassy carbon (GC) and indium tin oxide (ITO) electrodes, and the OER activities of the resulting films were evaluated. The catalytic surfaces were analyzed by various techniqu...
